Growing up in New York City, as a child I thought Central Park was the wilderness. Then I went off to college in Long Island, and thought okay, now this is the wilderness. In 2004, my boyfriend at the time (now husband) and I took a trip to North Carolina to visit his family, and I thought whoa, now this is really the wilderness. In 2011 I found myself on safari in South Africa and, finally I knew the true meaning of the wilderness.
As you may have guessed, I am not a camping in the woods, sleeping in a tent kind of girl. Lucky for me our accommodations were at Legend Lodges. We stayed at the Ravineside Lodge in a thatched roof suite built to look like a hut on the side of a mountain. Our “hut” had a queen size bed and indoor plumbing. For a city girl this is what I consider camping.
Safari however, is not about where you stay as much as it is about what you see. So, check out the amazing sights I was able to capture.
